Rev. Fr. Joe Arimpoor, SDB, Founder and HOD of the Department of Social Work (1979-1994) was a Visionary Social Worker with a Missionary zeal. He was an out-of-the box thinker, who dared to see an opportunity where nothing existed. Educated at Loyola, Chennai and later in Columbia University, USA he laid the foundation for Practice based Social Work Education, reaching out with innovative extension projects, major research studies and consultancy services.

Rev. Fr. Thomas Augustine,SDB, was the HOD of the Department of Social Work from 1982-1986. Four years of genuine concern for people and their problem. A Social Worker with a heart pure in gold. Made learning and teaching enjoyable experience. Deeply concerned for staff and students and for the welfare of humanity. True shepherd of the flock

Rev. Dr. Stanislaus Swaminathan,SDB,

Rev. Dr. Stanislaus Swaminathan,SDB, Alumnus of the first batch of Department of Social Work, Sacred Heart College and received his Ph.D from Ohio State University, USA. A philosopher, guide to students and distinguished former Principal of the college, an erudite scholar who placed academic excellence above everything else. Headed the Department of Social Work (1996-2009), instituted the Ph. D programme in Social Work in the department at Sacred Heart College and was instrumental in making the Department, a PG & Research Centre.

Prof. P. Allan John

Prof P. Allan John was the former Head of the Department. His service began since the inception of the department in 1979. He was handling the core subjects of the Human Resource Management Specialisation. He retired from the service in 2012.

Dr. A.J. Christopher

Dr. A. J. Christopher was the former Head of the Department. His service began in 1987. He handled the core subjects of the Community Development Specialisation. He retired from the service in 2014. He published three books and guided sixteen Ph.D. scholars. His contribution in research and consultation to the development sectors were remarkable.

Dr. J. Henry Rozario

Dr. J. Henry Rosario was the former Head of the Department. His service began in 1988. He handled the core subjects of the Youth Development Specialisation. He retired from the service in 2017. He published five books and guiding Seven Ph.D. scholars. His contribution in research and consultation to the development sectors were remarkable.

Dr. S. Paul Raj, M.A.(S.W), M.Phil. Ph.D.

Dr. S. Paul Raj A dynamic educator with over three decades of versatile experience in Social Work specialized in the field of Human Resource Management. A committed social worker who emphasizes and instills values, principles and smart work among his colleagues, faculty members and students. His dexterity exists not only in his well acclaimed role as a social work personnel but also in his profound thirst for research which has led to various publication of research articles in national and international journals. Dr. S. Paul Raj has over two decades of Corporate Training and is also a multifaceted trainer who has contributed to a significant number of training programmes, workshops and seminars in renowned Industries and Multi-National Companies. He is also an International Trainer for an online tutoring programme and has been awarded the International Tutor Award by CUB (Catholic University of Brasilia, Brazil). His strength lies in his meticulous nature also in the field of counseling and group dynamics. Dr. S. Paul Raj currently heads the department of Social Work and is unmatched in his planning, organizing and leadership skills.
